To celebrate West Vancouver’s 100th birthday this year, the West Vancouver Memorial Library has launched a new website of historical photographs and documents; over 5,000 records will be or are digitized  So far it looks as if 1400 or so are available to view at: digital.westvanlibrary.ca

Some of these photographs are on display at the Library till March 31st, 2012 and there are a number of anniversary events. Check the West Vancouver Memorial Library’s own website for details and the City of West Vancouver’s anniversary website.

These images and documents have been selected from several repositories – the West Vancouver Memorial Library, the British Columbia Archives, Capilano College, the Vancouver City Archives and the Vancouver Public Library. Note the Conditions of Use. Some photographs though are marked as ‘WVML Copyright or Public Domain’ and the conditions for personal use for these are generous. Small .jpg files can be downloaded or better copies purchased from the Library or other repositories.
