The original website, Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (RAOGK), mentioned at tonight’s BCGS meeting, is still missed by genealogists. From 1999 to 2011, thousands of RAOGK volunteers offered genealogy lookups, cemetery photography and other local research to others through the RAOGK website which was managed by Bridgett and Dale (Doc) Schneider.
Volunteers at the brand new Generous Genealogists website intend to fill that gap. There are already forums set up, so you can have a look at the questions and comments there. Many more volunteers are needed, of course, for this project. If you were a RAOGK volunteer and would like to volunteer again, or if you’re interested now in volunteering to do lookups in your particular area of expertise or at your local library or archives, you can submit your information now.
