Cloverdale Library events – Family History: A Kitchen Table Approach, Nov. 2, 2013

Two upcoming genealogy events in Cloverdale (Surrey), BC.

For full details on these and other Cloverdale programmes, see the Cloverdale Branch Library’s Family History Programs page.

Family History: a Kitchen Table Approach. Surrey Museum (next to Cloverdale Library).

A kitchen table

Saturday, November 2,  1 to 3 pm. Surrey Museum, 17710-56A Avenue, Surrey.

Registration required. Early next week will determine if there are enough sign-ups to proceed, so if you want to attend, please sign up. And let others know about this event too.

The afternoon will start off with a reception with yummy sandwiches plus coffee, tea, juice.

Then staff from the Library, City of Surrey Archives, and the Museum will each do a presentation in very cosy 40+ seat capacity auditorium in the Museum. Museum speaker Sandra Borger is an expert on family interview techniques.

The idea of the program is to think past the electronic resources (as important as they are) to discover the resources and people that are close at hand to family history researchers.

$15 including the delicious food. To register use WebReg or call or visit the Museum 604-592-6956 and quote this number #4336610. Or call 604-501-5100 and quote that number. Or visit any City of Surrey recreation centre to register in person.

And don’t forget about Cloverdale Library’s next event too.

The Family History Show & Tell. Cloverdale Library.

A website and a family quilt

Sat., Nov. 30, 10:30am – 12:30pm. Cloverdale Library, 5642 – 176A Street, Surrey.
No charge, but donations welcome! Pre-registration required.

Bring in creations or artifacts belonging to an ancestor – anything that tells a story. There have been family quilts, scrapbooks, storyboards, an artificial limb, digital collages and much more.

You are welcome to share by describing what you have brought or you may simply have a table and showcase your items. A laptop and a projector will be available to demonstrate  family history websites or digital collections. Participants will be strictly limited to a maximum of ten minutes talk time.

Visitors without stories are welcome. You might discover a great Christmas gift idea, or simply be inspired! Light refreshments provided.

This program is free, but requires pre-registration and will be held at the Cloverdale Library. To register please visit the Cloverdale Library, or call 604-598-7327, or email
