Christmas Tree A photo of Vancouver’s Louis Denison Taylor’s Christmas tree, decorated with men’s ties, 25 December 1929. Louis Taylor, Mayor of Vancouver for seven terms from 1910 to1934, was well known for his red ties. We can’t tell what colour those on the tree were, but I bet there was red in each as although that year he wasn’t Mayor, he was very soon back in office.  Photograph courtesy of the City of Vancouver Archives. If you’d like to know about the intriguing Mayor Taylor, the BCGS Library has his biography, L.D.: Mayor Louis Taylor and the Rise of Vancouver, written by Daniel Francis.
