The next BC Genealogical Society General Meeting is Wednesday, 9 November 2016, 7:30 pm at the Danish Lutheran Church, 6010 Kincaid Street in Burnaby.

Our guest speaker will be Fred Hazell whose presentation will feature
military memorabilia.

Remember this is the last day to enter the BCGS ‘Most Improved Genealogist’ competition.

The BCGS Boutique will be there too with genealogy books, aids and novelties. Shop for Christmas now.

All interested are welcome to attend. Refreshments available.

November 15th – Geoff Doherty and Marg Doherty from Brisbane, Australia will speak on Australian Research, 1 to 3 p.m. at the LDS Surrey Stake Location, 6270 – 126th Street, Surrey, BC. Co-sponsored by the BC Genealogical Society and The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. Free. Please pre-register; space is limited. November 18th – Genealogy Fair. Free; 2-4 pm. In partnership with the British Columbia Genealogical Society, the Jewish Genealogical Society of British Columbia and Klahanie Research Ltd.

November 26th – Family History Show & Tell in the morning 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM, Free. bring in your own creations or historic items – anything that tells a story: quilts, scrapbooks, digital collages, historic home movie clips or unusual family artifacts. Visit, display your family treasures, or show and tell the story (ten minutes maximum).

Also November 26th – in the afternoon, Collectors’ Show & Tell, 1:00-2:00 PM. Free. Display what you collect (register now), or just come by to view.

December 3rd – from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., an informal BCGS Library Open House to socialize with BCGS members. Free.

December 14th – BCGS Christmas Social – merriment and holiday treats! Meet the BCGS’s Most Improved Genealogist for 2017!
The speaker will be Kim Burkhardt, co-author of Rising from Obscurity: Harriet Susannah Ellis.
All interested are welcome to come. Free.
The evening will also include the ever popular paperback book sale and our first ever BCGS Silent Auction. Donations for the auction are welcome. Please contact the President, Rob Whitlock, as soon as possible.
