Most Canadian provincial genealogical journals and the larger newsletters regularly publish articles, family genealogies, indexes and document transcriptions, etc. received from members, however, most publish suitable outside material as space and interest permit.
Canadian genealogy and family history journals do feature articles and information relating to Canada, but many editors (like the BC Genealogical Society Editor) are also interested in articles relating to other geographic areas or articles focusing directly on general research tips, sites and searches.
In all cases, prospective authors should contact the relevant Society or its editor for up to date submission information.
In some cases, provincial organizations may have branches or affiliate groups with newsletters and they may be interested in publishing articles or information related to local genealogy or history, or on more general genealogical topics. As well, there may also be specialized genealogical and historical societies or organizations with publications that accept submissions, for example, the United Empire Loyalists’ Association of Canada. See the last section of this list.
Each of the following societies’ journals or newsletters are indexed in PERSI, the Periodical Source Index maintained and published by the Allen County Public Library in Indiana, USA. All participate in exchanges with other genealogical societies and groups. Thus an article may receive wide readership in Canada and other countries.
Most of these publications also publish research queries from non-members, either free or for a nominal fee, and several accept genealogically related advertising.
