Update: 29 June 2013 – The British Columbia Genealogical Society is encouraging its members to participate in the on-line survey and in the consultations now being held in BC. The future and development of the BC Archives is of great importance to all genealogists and family historians.

The Royal British Columbia Museum, the umbrella organization which includes not only the provincial Museum in Victoria, but also the BC Archives, is now holding consultations around BC and has an on-line survey to collect ideas and opinions on priorities for the future.

Five key issues and 10 opportunities have been identified. Although the development of the BC Archives is not particularly stressed in the Vision statements, the BCGS Editor did ask the Museum about this today on Twitter and was assured that the Archives are a priority.

Please make your views known by attending a consultation and answering the survey. And please include your observations and concerns as a genealogist about the importance of the BC Archives.
