The Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. The FFHS now serves 180 national, regional, local genealogical and family history and one-name study societies around the world, including the BC Genealogical Society, a long time member.
The FFHS has recently published the 2014 version of its free “Really Useful Information Leaflet” which, as this year is the Centennial of the start of World War I, features an article on “Researching Your [British] World War One Ancestors” by Simon Fowler and a list of useful websites for WW I research.
The leaflet also gives information about all the FFHS’ members with contact details.
There is also an “Australasian Really Useful Information Leaflet”.
The newest British Columbia Historical Federation Newsletter is on-line. This issue (#40, December 2012, .pdf format, free) includes news of historical and heritage activities and awards from around BC, including the Vernon Museum’s restoration of Vernon’s 1912 post office clock and the opening of the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society’s new car barn in Cloverdale.
