Salute to a Dedicated Cemetery Recorder – BCGS 1984

A BCGS Cemetery Recording Adventure

Since we’ve recently been discussing our BC Genealogical Society (BCGS) cemetery recording training and field trip plans for 2015, I wanted to share this amusing 1984 cemetery recorder’s comment I found in the BCGS Newsletter, March/April 1984, Volume 9 Number 2, page 16.

Originally submitted to the BCGS Newsletter by Linda Blackman, B.C. Research Committee, 1984.

“The following excerpt was taken from a letter accompanying an out of town recording I received.

“It took me 2 hrs. to arrive after first a flat tire, had to chase cattle so I could get through, wait for road construction, and finally made it to the farm. The farm is, with no problems, just about 15 mins. away from where I live. A very KIND bull put my long legs to work to get back to the car and that is when my OLD age started to show…I’m really not in shape to run.

Anyway the day was nice and a lot of fun.

Do watch for news about our 2015 cemetery recording trips. They won’t be this strenuous!
