BCGS 2013 Family History Book Awards

The British Columbia Genealogical Society Family History Book Awards for 2013 were awarded on June 11th, 2014 in Burnaby, BC. The three winning authors were:

First – Evelyn Sangster Benson for A Century In A Small Town: One Family’s Stories (Westminster Publishing).

Second – Mack Bryson for A Cowboy’s Life: Memories of a Western Cowboy in an Empire of Grass (Friesen Press).

Third – Tom Lymbery for Tom’s Gray Creek, A Kootenay Lake Memoir, Part I: Early Years to 1945 (Gray Creek Publishing).

Nine books were submitted for consideration. Three of the authors were present; each gave a short reading from their book. Those present were all very impressed with the presentations, and the authors had an opportunity to sell their books. The authors present were Evelyn Sangster Benson, Mack Bryson and Ruth Derksen Siemens.

The evening ended with time to talk to each of the authors. All enjoyed strawberry shortcake, a feature of the evening.
