Welcome to March! The month that has a little spring in the air (March 20t h ); when the Welsh
celebrate St. David’s Day (March 1 st ); and the Irish, St. Patrick’s Day (March 17 th ).
Last month, I talked about setting smaller goals. So taking my own advice, I picked one of my families
to review. Thanks to newly available records on Ancestry and another piece of information via Google,
I added a couple of new pieces on my uncle. After updating that file, I sent it off to my cousin, and
asked her to proof and let me know of any mistakes. She responded that there had been a couple of
additions to the family, sent me the facts and a couple of photos. I made those revisions, and printed
this for my binder. Small task, big reward – success !
How about you? What was your smaller goal? Was it successful?
The BCGS has a busy schedule for March. Along with the various Coffee Chats listed later on in the Newsletter, there are
two research weekends. The Quebec Questers are again hosting a Salt Lake City in Surrey weekend on March 14-16.
And there’s another British Isles weekend on March 21 & 22 – there’s still space available for this one – contact is Rob
Whitlock (see page 7 for more info).
Thanks to the generosity of a few members, we have added a new 65” Smart TV to our library. Located in the
Boardroom, we have already used it a few times for chats and meetings. The plan is to schedule a variety of webinars –
we’ll print those in the Newsletter too, or post on our Website or Facebook Discussion page. If you
have some suggestions as to which webinars would be of interest to you, please let me know.
Remember, our March meeting is our Annual General Meeting. In addition to the election of new
officers, there will be a vote on the increase in membership dues as presented at our February
General Meeting. Look forward to seeing you then.
