MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT June Newsletter

I was talking to a friend the other day and she asked how my family research was coming along.
With that we got into a discussion about how she could get started! Well, several hours later, I sent her home somewhat shell-shocked but armed with a Pedigree Chart and Family Group Sheet.
A couple of days later, I got a phone call from her as she had lots of questions. Yes, she has been bitten by the genealogy bug ! When she said she didn’t have any information on her father’s
family, we discovered that she, in fact, had a lot. All buried in a box in the closet. Does this mean she is a closet researcher?
One exciting thing happened in May. I had the opportunity to meet my Grade 1 teacher – Miss Bernice Leversage, now Mrs. Douglas. Yes, she is still around! I was in her very first class at Sea Island School. After all these years, she recalled several cute stories about some of my classmates. One little girl loved to sing. Unfortunately, she couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, but she did love to sing. Speaking of singing – have you considered getting the lyrics of your favourite songs and adding them to your family story? What about nursery rhymes and songs from when you were young. Something to think about! Till next month, happy researching!
