They say that April showers bring May flowers! But genealogically, April showers mean we can work on our family histories and not feel guilty about staying inside. A couple of my DNA connections shared their family information with me, including photos! So it was a very productive month for me. April has been a very busy month for BCGS, with our volunteers continuing to work on a variety of projects.
We’ve added 3 new projects to the list:
– The 50 th Anniversary Book – 2021 will be the 50 th anniversary of BCGS, and to commemorate this
milestone, we’d like to produce an anniversary book much like we did at our 25 th anniversary.
– Holten Netherlands ICB Project – the project originated in the Netherlands, and is to commemorate the
81 men from BC who are buried in this cemetery. More information on this project later in the Newsletter.
– Pioneer Registry – The Next Wave – originally the BCGS created the Pioneer Registry for those whose
ancestors came to British Columbia before 1900. We’d like to work on the Next Wave – that is families who
came to British Columbia from 1900 to 1925. Does this apply to your family?
If you are interested in participating in any of the projects, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll put you to work!
Last but not least, our Fundraising Team held a very successful event on April 27 th. Read more about that event in the Newsletter.
Hope the genealogical Easter Bunny was good to you,
