About.com Genealogy 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards Voting has begun!

Voting for the About.com Genealogy 2013 Reader’s Choice Awards has begun and continues to March 19, 2013. There are 11 categories of Awards ranging from genealogy software to genealogy education to the best subscription and the best free genealogy websites.

Some interesting choices; each of us may find something new to try. For the Best Online Genealogy Tool or Mobile App, for example, most nominated are mobile apps, a sign of the times, for sure – Ancestry (iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad), Families (iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad), Family ChArtist, Steve Morse Search Tools, and RootsMagic (iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad).

The Quebec Family History Society is in the running for the Best State/Provincial Genealogical Society. If you do Canadian research, have a look at their website – and do think about giving them your vote. The British Columbia Genealogical Society was nominated, but didn’t make the finals this year (maybe next).

Other societies running are the Illinois State Genealogical Society, the North Carolina Genealogical Society, the Southern California Genealogical Society, and the Utah Genealogical Association.

And vote often! “You may vote once per award category per day (each 24-hour period) between February 19 and March 19, 2013.”  The winners will be announced on Kimberly Powell’s About.com Genealogy Blog on March 27th, 2013.
